KS&R attorneys acted as co-counsel in a personal injury case against a commercial airline. Our client was a passenger on a flight from Florida to Indiana and was not wearing a seat belt as the seat belt sign had been turned off. The plane hit "clear air turbulence" and quickly dropped several thousand feet. Our client flew up and hit the over head compartment, breaking his neck. He is now a quadriplegic. He is 45 years old, has 2 children and is part owner of a grocery store. We were able to show that the plane was not where it was supposed to be according to its flight plan. A confidential settlement was reached in an amount representing the highest recovery ever on behalf of a KS&R client.
Imagine being the parents of a 14 year old child and taking him to a hospital for a surgery you were told had no more risk than an appendectomy. Then imagine being the parents of that 14 year old and watching him bleed to death following surgery. Our clients came to us with this unfortunate story. An investigation revealed witnesses who overheard a surgeon's refusal to take the boy back to surgery, despite strong recommendations from another physician to do so.
